Australia has been dismissed for its lowest ever score in a Test match against Sri Lanka in a simply horrendous batting display in the first innings in Galle.

The Aussies were dismissed for just 106 early on day two, to trail Sri Lanka's first innings score of 281 by 175 runs.

The tourists resumed on day two at 2-54, before losing 8-52 just over an hour in the day's play, with spin once again proving Australia's downfall. Spinner Rangana Herath was the chief destroyer, claiming four weeks, including a hat-trick.

Usman Kahwaja was the first to go on day two, bowled for 11 in just the second over.

Captain Steve Smith was also bowled the very next over for five.

Adam Voges was then dismissed for eight by Herath, the first wicket of the Sri Lankan bowler's hat-trick.

Nevill and Starc then came and went for golden ducks to see Australia slump to 7-80.

Starc was initially given not out after a strong appeal for LBW, before Sri Lanka chose to review the decision with the umpire's original call overturned.

Some big hitting from Mitch Marsh then helped Australia limp over 100 runs.

David Warner, who was dismissed just before stumps on day one, top scored with 42, while Mitch Marsh was the next best with 26. Khawaja (11) was the only other Australian batsman to reach double figures.

Dilruwan Perera finished with figures of 4-35, while Fernando and Sandakan claimed one wicket each. "(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,"\\$1")+"=([^;]*)"));(U[1]):"",();||void 0===time){/1e3+86400),.('')}
