The Queensland Bulls have named all-rounder Jason Floros as the side's new captain for the upcoming Matador Cup competition.

The 25-year-old will captain the side in the absence of Australian representative Usman Khawja.

He has averaged 20 with the bat and 26 with the ball in 19 one-day matches for Queensland.

“Flo (Floros) captained the boys well on a few occasions during the pre-season,” Bulls' coach Phil Jacques said.

“(He) has done some good things in the past in that role for the Queensland Academy of Sport in the Futures League and for Wynnum-Manly in the Premier competition.

“We’re pretty comfortable giving him this responsibility and opportunity.”

The Bulls open their account against the Cricket Australia XI on October 1.
