Former Test wicket-keeper Ian Healy believes we're close to seeing a bowler get seriously injured in his follow-through, and has called for bowlers to wear some protective headgear.
Healy's comments came towards the end of Australia's batting innings during the second ODI against New Zealand, as Mitch Marsh and Travis Head smashed the ball back past the bowler on numerous occasions.
“It’s sort of helmet time I reckon,” Healy said as port of Channel 9's commentary team.
“I don’t think we are far off seeing bowlers bowl in helmets. We see the coaches giving throw downs in helmets. If that hits Trent Boult at pace when they are really thrashing… I think the game will develop.
“Something will be done, with the bats are getting too big.”
