Australia have named their XI for the first Test against New Zealand on Friday at Basin Reserve in Wellington.

Australian first Test XI: Warner, Burns, Khawaja, Smith, Voges, M.Marsh, Nevill, Siddle, Hazlewood, Lyon, Bird.

Jackson Bird will play his first Test for over two years, after earning selection ahead of Victorian quick James Pattinson, in the only real selection shock for the opening match.

Earlier, New Zealand also named their XI for the match.

NZ first Test XI: Guptill, Latham, Williamson, Nicholls, McCullum, Anderson, Watling, Bracewell, Craig, Southee, Boult.
