Chris Lynn wacks a six during the Big Bash League match between the Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes at The Gabba on December 29, 2015 in Brisbane, Australia.

Australia and Brisbane Heat batsman Chris Lynn has been ruled out of the remainder of the ODI series against Pakistan and the entire BBL06 season, as well as the ODI series in New Zealand.

Lynn visited a specialist in Brisbane on Tuesday and was told to take several weeks off, which means he won't be available to play until at least mid-February.

Darren Lehmann confirmed Lynn's injury to the media in a press conference in Perth on Wednesday, and the Heat big man will now target a return to cricket in time for Australia's three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka that begins on Feb 17.

"He's been playing through a lot of pain even during the BBL and he's got to the stage where he can't function anymore," Lehmann said.

"He'll have a couple of weeks of no cricket ... he's got to calm down the neck because it's quite aggravated.

"He'll start his rehab now and he won't be doing too much strenuous stuff before he hopefully gets back for the Sri Lankan series."
