Perth Scorchers spinner James Muirhead has sustained a fracture and dislocation to his left thumb while fielding in Premier Cricket last weekend, and will miss the remainder of the BBL06 calendar.

Muirhead with need surgery to repair the injury, with the 23-year-old expected to go under the knife in the coming days.

The spinner will be on the sidelines for at least six weeks following the operation, meaning his BBL season is all but over.

Muirhead did not make an appearance in BBL06 for the Scorchers.
