Shaun Marsh has recovered from a broken finger and has been selected in Australia's 16-man touring squad for the series in India that starts next month, but the left-hander may not bat in his usual position.

Marsh was opening the batting for the national side before injury struck him down during the opening Test of the home series against South Africa in November, and his replacement has hit the ground running early in his Test career.

20-year-old Matt Renshaw has averaged 63 in his first four Tests, and Marsh has been impressed by the Queenslander's start.

"It's exciting times to see a young guy come through like that for Australia," Marsh said.

Renshaw's form will make it hard for the selectors to drop the opener for the first Test in Pune, but that's not the only position Marsh is comfortable in.

"It doesn't matter where they want to bat me. I'd be happy to bat anywhere," Marsh said on Monday.

"I'm sure they've got their ideas at the moment. I'll just prepare as well as I can and see which way they go."

Since making his return to cricket last month Marsh has found runs a little hard to come by, scoring just 67 in his six BBL matches this season.

"The confidence is there. It's got nothing to do with confidence at the moment," Marsh said of his form slump.

"I just need to get a few away. And if I can do that, I'll be alright.

"It's been a bit frustrating the last couple of weeks. But I guess that's T20 cricket.

"I felt really good in the nets the last week or so. I know it's not far away."
