A six-wicket haul to leg-spinner Ish Sodhi was enough to see Adelaide smash the Sydney Thunder by 77 runs on Wednesday night.

Sodhi led the way with the ball after Ben Dunk and company put on an impressive score with the bat, as Adelaide finished their BBL06 campaign in style.

The Strikers were sent it to bat by Sydney, and lost just one wicket inside the first 12 overs as Dunk and captain Brad Hodge took control of the match.

Hodge entered the game after Tim Ludeman was dismissed for just 13, but Hodge and Dunk combined for 92 before the skipper fell to Shane Watson.

Dunk steamed past the half-century mark, scoring 65 from 40 before Watson took his second wicket of the night after ripping straight through the Strikers' opener.

Kieron Pollard continued the charge for Adelaide and didn't give the Thunder a chance to get on top, as he smashed five sixes in a quickfire 47 from 22.

Adelaide finished strongly to post a total of 5/178, and the Thunder were on the back foot from their first moment with the bat.

James Vince fell early as Sydney slumped to 1/2, but Kurtis Patterson and Shane Watson got their chase back on track to get themselves back into the game.

Patterson went for 29 and Watson 39 as the pair did their bit, but amazingly those two were the only two to score a double-figure total, as Sodhi ripped through the Sydney batting line-up.

The Thunder lost their last eight wickets for just 22 runs and fell 77 runs short of Adelaide's total, with the defending champions finishing the season in last place.

Zero Wicket's votes

3. Ish Sodhi (Strikers)

The Kiwi spinner became just the second player in BBL history to take six wickets in an innings, as his 6-11 from 3.3 overs are second only to Lasith Malinga's 6-7 for the Stars in 2012. Sodhi bowled three Thunder players and trapped one lbw as he was all over the top of some bamboozled Sydney batsmen.

2. Ben Dunk (Strikers)

Dunk finished his impressive season on a high, top scoring once against for the Strikers with a strong 65 from 40 to set his side up for a decent total.

  1. Kieron Pollard (Strikers)

Pollard continued on from Dunk's hot start with an even hotter finish, as 47 from 22 including five sixes helped propel Adelaide from a poor score to one that looked too tough for Sydney to chase down from the get go.
