Victoria has recorded a seven wicket win over South Australia, to claim its 30th Sheffield Shield and clinch back-to-back titles.

It is also the first time in 11 years an away team has won the Shield final.

Travis Dean (54), Marcus Stonis (72), Peter Handscomb (49) led the Bushrangers to victory on the final day, with the away side needing 193 to win in the fourth innings.

John Holland claimed match figures of 8-162, while Dean (111) and Handscomb (112) set up the win with impressive first innings centuries.

South Australia batted first, posting 340, with half centuries to Alex Ross, Jake Watherald and Alex Carey.

The Vics then scored 399 in reply, with centuries to Dean and Handscmob, while Cameron White scored 78.

Hollan then took five wickets, as he ripped through the Redbacks' batting line up, with the hosts setting the Bushrangers less than 200 for victory with a second innings score of 251.

A 96 from Weatherald and a 71 from Ross was not enough to help South Australia to a competitive total in their first final in 20 years, as Victoria chased the target down early on day five with just three wickets down.

Peter Handscomb was named man of the match for his 12 and 61 not out.
