England has confirmed it will host its first day/night Test match next year.
Edgebaston will host England's first ever day/night Test match, when the West Indies tour in August, 2017.
As was the case at the Adelaide Oval in Australia, play will commence at 2pm local time and finish at 9pm.
“We are excited by the prospect of staging our first ever day-night Test match," ECB chief executive Tom Harrison said.
“It is a great opportunity to attract more fans to the game and see how staging Test cricket in the afternoon and evening fits with working patterns and modern lifestyles, whilst maintaining the deep tradition of Test match cricket.”
England is the third nation to host a day/night Test match, with Australia hosting the Black Caps in 2015 and Pakistan set to host the West Indies in the UAE later this month.
