Despite some brilliant performances throughout the series from Australia, India has reclaimed the Border-Gavaskar trophy with a commanding win in the fourth and final Test to claim a 2-1 series win.

Beginning the day on 0-19, India needed only a further 87 runs to win the match and the series, after the hosts had dismissed Australia for just 137 on day three.

The Aussies were given a slimmer of hope when Pat Cummins removed Murali Vijay for eight, before Glenn Maxwell ran out Indian rock Cheteshwar Pujara for a duck in the very same over to make it 2-46.

However, with eight wickets still in hand, India cruised home, with Rahane hitting an unbeaten 38 off 27, while Rahul finished unbeaten on 51, as the home side reached the target midway through he first session.
