Cricket Australia has announced their 13-man squad for the upcoming two-Test series against Bangladesh in August.

Paceman Mitchell Starc will miss the tour after being ordered to rest following a fractured foot he suffered in Australia's recent Tour of India.

Starc did feature in Australia's recent Champions Trophy campaign, but was given the break with the upcoming Ashes series looming.

James Pattinson returns to the Test line-up in Starc's place for the first time since February 2016, who has been included alongside allrounder Hilton Cartwright.

Spinner Steve O'Keefe was dropped from the side, despite claiming 19 wickets during the series in India.

National Selector Trevor Hohns said O'Keefe struggled in the final three Tests after recording record figures of 12-70 in Pune, and believed Ashton Agar would compliment Nathan Lyon better.

"Whilst Steve O'Keefe bowled well in Pune, he did not maintain this level in the remaining matches of the series and we believe the timing is right for Ashton to enter the set-up and test his all-rounder ability," Hohns said.

"Ashton has continued to impress us with his form and we believe his bowling is at a level where he deserves to be playing on the highest stage.

"He will work nicely in tandem with Nathan Lyon and also brings a great all-round package to the team."

The Aussies will arrive in Bangladesh on August 18, before playing one Tour match (August 22-24) and two Tests (August 27-31, September 4-8).
