Australia has started where it left off in the first test, reaching 1-105 at lunch on day one.

Dave Warner and Joe Burns produced another 100-run opening stand, as Warner brought up a run a ball half-century with seven fours.

The Aussies jumped out of the blocks after winning the toss and electing to bat, scoring 12 runs off the first over, as Burns and Warner began hitting the Kiwi bowlers to all parts of the WACA ground.

Burns was dismissed for 40 just prior to lunch, after chopping on to his stumps.

Warner is not out on 50 and Khawaja not out on two at lunch.

Matt Henry claimed the only wicket for the Kiwis on a hard, dry pitch, with figures of 1-24, while Southee has 0-27 (7 overs), Boult has 0-30 (6 overs) and Bracewell has 0-23 (6 overs).
