Australian star all-rounder Cameron Green, who took out his second player of the match honour in the space of four games during a thrilling win over New Zealand in Cairns on Tuesday, is in doubt for the second ODI of the series.
Green, who kicked off the summer with a five-for against Zimbabwe as a bowler batting at eight but has since been promoted up the order thanks to Mitchell Marsh's injury and his own form, arrived at the crease with Australia sitting on 5 for 44 in a chase of 232.
He would go on to score 89 off 92 balls in the chase, batting alongside Alex Carey (85 off 99) for much of the chase with the pair putting on 158 for the sixth wicket.
Green was named man of the match for his efforts, which came with horrid cramps blocking his ability to run during the back end of the innings, although Australia ultimately got to the target with five overs to spare.
Speaking after the game, Green admitted he "couldn't really walk" for a period of time, with a seven-minute delay following his initial cramp as he received treatment.
"I couldn't really walk for a second there," Green told Fox Cricket.
"Groin, calf, hamstring and forearm – the whole lot was going. Not ideal but that's ok."
He managed to get to the end of the run chase, finishing not out, but was in clear discomfort.
He now has less than 48 hours to recover ahead of the second game of the series against the Black Caps, which is another afternoon start at 2:20pm (AEST) on Thursday.
Should he be left out, the options to replace him will be bowling all-rounders Sean Abbott and Ashton Agar, and batsman-keeper Josh Inglis, who only came into the squad as the injury replacement for Mitchell Marsh.
