History has been made overnight in Dubai, as Pakistani batsman Azhar Ali has become the first player to hit a Test century in a day/night Test.
Ali led the charge for the home side on the first day of the Test, as he and fellow opener Sami Aslam combined for the highest opening stand in a Test match in Dubai with 215.
In Pakistan's 400th career Test since their first outing in 1952, Ali and Aslam came out swinging and had West Indies on the back foot immediately.
Ali was brilliant all day and finished day 1 unbeaten on 146, which makes this his 11th century in his 50th career Test.
Asad Shafiq came in for Aslam late in the day after the opener was bowled by Roston Chase for 90, and Shafiq made 33* before the day ended. Pakistan will resume on day 2 with a score of 1/279.
This Test is only the second day/night Test in history, after Australia hosted New Zealand at Adelaide Oval in November 2015.
