The Sydney Sixes have confirmed that they have spoken to Michael Clarke about a return to the Big Bash League.
The former Australian captain made his return to club cricket on the weekend, scoring 48 in the first innings and 30 in the second, after retiring from cricket in August last year.
Clarke has hinted at a stint in the BBL next season, but has refused to be drawn into speculation that he may return to the national side.
In what will come as a blow to the Melbourne Stars, who signed Clarke for two seasons before pulling out of the contract, Sydney Sixes general manager Dominic Remond confirmed the club has spoken to the 34-year-old.
“We caught up with Michael a few weeks ago to chat about his interest in the Sixers and what he was looking to do moving forward,” Remond said.
“With the World T20 and IPL coming up, no decisions on roster spots are likely to be made in the near future as we decide on what is going to work best for our club for BBL06 and beyond.
