Sydney Thunder have pulled off a major coup, signing South Australian batsman Callum Ferguson on a three-year deal.

Ferguson has spent the past three seasons with the Melbourne Renegades, after beginning his Big Bash career at the Adelaide Strikers.

The 32-year-old has played 30 one-day internationals, three Twenty20s and one Test match for Australia.

Ferguson said there a number of things which drew him to the Thunder.

“I’ve known Huss for a long time, we got on really well when we played together,” Ferguson said.

“I’ve played with Shane Watson, Ben Rohrer and Aiden Blizzard. There’s a few guys who I’ve had a really good time playing with or against in the past and I’ve had really good dealings with all of them.

“There’s a lot of things that attracted me to Sydney Thunder, Sydney’s a great city and I’m looking forward to the experience of being a senior player in a young and talented group.”

Ferguson averages 22.5 runs across his T20 career.

The Thunder's first match is against the Sydney Sixes at Spotless Stadium on December 19.
