The BBL|12 finals are locked in following a thrilling end to the regular season.

Two low-scoring games on the final day saw the Hobart Hurricanes win over the Brisbane Heat, and the Sydney Thunder claim victory over the Melbourne Stars.

The win for the Thunder pushed them ahead of the Hurricanes, who otherwise would have made the finals on net run rate.

Instead, the men in purple miss out, with the Brisbane Heat being one point ahead and finishing fifth, while the Thunder's win pushes them up to fourth spot on the table.

They miss third spot on net run rate to the Melbourne Renegades, while the head of affairs saw the Perth Scorchers claim the minor premiership by a single point over the Sydney Sixers, who were seven points ahead of the Renegades in a two-way race all season long.

The BBL finals follow a top-five format which works as follows:

Match 1: The Eliminator
5th place vs 4th place

Match 2: The Qualifier
1st place vs 2nd place

Match 3: The Knockout
3rd place vs winner of The Eliminator

Match 4: The Challenger
Loser of The Qualifier vs winner of The Knockout

Match 5: The Final
Winner of The Qualifier vs Winner of The Challenger

What that all means is that the finals will kick-off with the Thunder and Heat facing off in Sydney on Friday evening, before the winner of that games plays the Melbourne Renegades in Melbourne on Sunday.

In between, the Perth Scorchers host the match to book the first place in the grand final on Saturday in Perth.

The Challenger will then be hosted by the loser of the Qualifier on Thursday, February 2, before the final is played on Saturday, February 4.
