The NSW Blues have claimed back-to-back Matador Cup one-day titles with the help of a record-breaking performance from Test spinner Nathan Lyon.
Despite missing Test stars and the tournament's third-highest run scorer Daniel Hughes through injury, the Blues completed an impressive six-wicket victory to win their 11th domestic one-day title.
After earning a trip straight through to the decider following their top of the table finish, Queensland were hoping to take their regular season form into the final, but it ended up being the opposite.
The Bulls lost their opening six wickets for just 98 runs, as Lyon led the NSW attack with some outstanding figures.
Lyon bowled 4-10 off 10 overs including three maidens, meaning the 28-year-old's figures were the most economical figures in 10 over history by a New South Welshman, beating Nathan Bracken's 1-12 in 2006.
In the end the Bulls were dismissed for 186 and NSW were off to chase down a score they would have been confident in getting, but they started off quite shaky.
NSW's top three all fell for just 19 runs, and Queensland were immediately back in the contest.
After an impressive bowling display the Blues weren't ready to let go of their advantage, and Moises Henriques and Kurtis Patterson came in and helped the Sydney-siders back on their way.
The pair combined for a match-winning 131-run stand (Henriques 85, Patterson 77*) to bring the title back to NSW, as Lyon won man-of-the-match honours.
