Veteran spin bowler Brad Hogg has signed a one-year contract extension with the Melbourne Renegades at 46 years of age.

Previously uncontracted, the Renegades today announced that the spinner will play a second season with the club in the seventh installment of the Big Bash.

"Look out Melbourne I'm coming back. I had such a good time during last season and the fire to compete is burning strongly. I can't wait to get back into the sporting cauldron in Melbourne again" Hogg Said.

Hogg took a total of eight wickets in eight games in last year's Big Bash at an impressive average of 28.8. His best bowling figures came against the Stars on New Years Day, where he took 3 wickets for just 22 runs.

The 46-year-old underwent knee surgery earlier in the year but so far the recovery process has been seamless.

"Recovery is going well. A little bit of maintenance is required these days to keep the machine running perfectly but I'm feeling good and looking forward to getting back into it. The Renegades members and fans were fantastic last season, I was blown away by the reception at Etihad Stadium," Hogg said.

Renegades Head Coach Andrew McDonald said Hogg played a key role in the side last season and "can still deceive some of the best players with the ball, he's experienced and we are please to have him back".

The Renegades' season opener is on December 21 against the Hobart Hurricanes.
