Former Australian captain Michael Clarke has pulled out of his Big Bash League deal with the Melbourne Stars.

The Sydney Morning Herald has reported that Clarke has opted to take time away from the game after his international retirement.

Clarke was promoted as a major draw card for the Stars for the upcoming season and was to be the captain of the side, after signing a two year deal in April.

However, the 34-year-old has withdrawn from the agreement in order to have some time away from cricket.
