Australian opener David Warner sent a scare through the Australian camp on Tuesday, after leaving training early due to a neck injury.

Warner left the field as his teammates trained after appearing to jar his neck while taking a catch.

He sought treatment from team physio David Beakley but did manage to return to the nets some time later for throw downs.

However, after only two deliveries he left the nets and returned to the dressing room to speak to the physios.

But the attacking opener eased fears when he fronted the media on Tuesday afternoon, confirming he is a certain starter for the first Test on Thursday.

"My neck is quite stiff," Warner told reporters.

"I took a high ball and something just twinged in my neck. I haven't really had a stiff neck like this one before.

"I don't think a sore neck is going to keep me out.

"I'm getting a bit of physio treatment at the moment and hopefully it will settle down in the next 24 to 48 hours.

"I'll try and have a hit tomorrow at some stage, I have to work on my technique a little bit more, probably facing up.

"I'll get some more treatment tonight, get some heat packs, get some fingers into it and hopefully it's better tomorrow."
