Alex Carey has committed his BBL future to the Adelaide strikers.

Carey has signed a four-year deal on the eve of the Australian summer, which will see him be available for most of the BBL10 for the Strikers.

With regular Strikers skipper Travis Head set to be unavailable until late January on Test duty, Carey is expected to replace Head as skipper for a large part of the season.

The wicket-keeper captained Adelaide for seven games last season.

Strikers coach Jason Gillespie spoke about what Carey brings the Strikers going forward.

"Alex is a key part of the group, a player and leader of the highest standard, and for him to be at the Strikers for the next four years is a massive result for this franchise, the city and our fans."

Carey will most likely miss Adelaide's first game of the season, when they battle the Hobart Hurricanes on December 13, which is the final day of the three-day Australia A match against India in Sydney.

Carey is the final piece to Adelaide's 19 man squad and is joined by new signings Matt Renshaw (Brisbane Heat), Daniel Worrall (Melbourne Stars) and English spinner Danny Briggs for BBL10.
