Australian cricket fans are set to enjoy two day-night Test matches next summer.

Fairfax Media has reported that Cricket Australia is close to finalising its schedule for next season, with the Gabba set to miss out on the opening Test of the summer.

However, the Brisbane venue will instead host its first day-night Test in December.

Australia will play two three-Test series against South African and Pakistan, with Perth hosting the first Test against the Proteas and Brisbane set to host the first Test against Pakistan.

Cricket Australia hoping the day-night Test at the Gabba will boost crowd figures at the venue, with attendances dropping in recent years.
