Cricket Australia XI has recorded its first ever win in the Matador Cup, with a thrilling upset win over Tasmania.

After suffering two record breaking defeats to start the season, CA XI responded with a stunning and nail biting win over the Tigers.

CA XI won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 7-241 off 50 overs, before an impressive bowling display restricted Tasmania to 9-238.

Marcus Harris top scored with 84, while captain William Bosisto (64) and Matt Short (41) also made valuable contributions.

Faulkner took three wickets for Tasmania, with Fekete taking two and Rainbird and Bird taking one each.

In reply, Tassie lost Ben Dunk for just one in the second over. Dom Michale fell soon after for 21, highlighting the problem for Tasmania during the run chase. Several players got solid starts, however, every batsman bar Tim Paine (56) and George Bailey (51) failed to capitalise.

Micheal (21), Doran (13), Faulkner (17) and Gulbis (33) were the chief culprits, while Paine and Bailey would have also been disappointed to not convert their half centuries into centuries.

In a thrilling finish, the Tigers needed 75 off the final 10 overs, falling four agonizing runs short of victory.
