After an eventful 2021-22 campaign, Big Bash franchises are set to begin their preparation for the 12th edition of the tournament later this year.

In a period that will follow a local T20 World Cup, the BBL|12 series is sure to be one of great focus for Cricket Australia, with the international tournament set to pave a runway into the domestic series.

With fans and players both calling for substantial changes to the format of the BBL fixture, the 2022-23 season might just see Australia's T20 competition undergo a facelift in the hope of placing a greater product on offer to its followers.

With an amplified focus on the quality of the game, who will step up on the big stage for the next season of the Big Bash? You can have you say and bet with our bonus codes for 2022.

Here we predict early selections for the main award winners for BBL|12.

Champions

Sydney Sixers

The last several seasons have seen the Sixers and Scorchers share the spoils, with the latter having denied Sydney the chance of a three-peat in the final.

However, BBL|12 will be the Sixers' chance for redemption, with the three-time champions set to place their best foot forward as they balance an XI gifted with international-calibre talent.

The Scorchers are set to contend toward the top too, while the Strikers and Hurricanes should be vying for a chance to break the trend.

Player of the Tournament

Hayden Kerr

Should the Sixers claim their fourth BBL title to level the Scorchers on the all-time leaderboard, plenty of their reliance may come down to Hayden Kerr's input.

A breakout 2021-22 campaign saw the New South Welshman star with the ball in hand, while his 98* with the bat in the final compounded his place as one of Australia's most promising young talents.

The stunning innings wasn't enough for his side, but it did place Kerr in a new light as a more even all-rounder that will be capable to threaten the game across either innings of a T20.

Expect Kerr to reach new heights next season as he continues to cut his teeth in the league.

Most Runs

Glenn Maxwell

Having signed a new long-term deal with the Stars, 'The Big Show' will be hoping his sensational end to the BBL|11 season will transition into his next campaign in the green.

154 from just the 64 deliveries goes down as arguably the greatest innings seen in the BBL across its history, with Maxwell's best striking of the ball on display against Hobart.

Should an uninterrupted season arise for the veteran slogger, Maxwell will be in line for a crown as the top-scoring batsman in BBL|12.

Most Wickets

Andrew Tye

With Peter Siddle having claimed this title last season, the Adelaide Strikers paceman has shown that the veterans still lead the way when it comes to claiming wickets.

Should the trend continue, Tye could be set to add to his stunning tally of 118 wickets in the BBL, a total that currently has him second to Sixers all-rounder Sean Abbott on the all-time leaderboard.

With Tye potentially facing another season-long stint as international duties fade for the Scorchers star, another place atop the podium of poll-takers is sure to emerge.
