England have claimed their first points in the Women's Ashes series with a 20-run DLS Method win in Coffs Harbour on Sunday.

England Captain Heather Knight scored a total of 88 runs which was a game-high for the match, whilst Tammy Beaumont and Sarah Taylor notched up half-centuries with scores of 74 and 69 respectively.

England finished the innings with a total of 8-284 which is their highest ever ODI score against Australia in Australia.

Australia were sitting rather comfortably as they were just 1-159 in the 30th over and were on their way to chasing down the revised target of 278 in 48 overs.

However the regular loss of wickets and rising run rate required saw the Aussie's held to 9-257.

The win gives England two points on the series ledger with Australia leading 4-2 after the ODI leg of the multi-format series.

If Australia hadn't have gone down to the impressive England, they would have only needed to draw the day/night test that will take place in Sydney or win just one of the three Twenty20 matches to give them the eight points required for them to retain the ashes.

Although it wasn't the result they were after, Australia certainly can take some positives out of the match, including Alyssa Healy's second straight half-century and Megan Schutt's 4-44 with the ball ahead of the inaugural pink-ball ashes test in Sydney on November 9.

Australia will now head to Canberra for a three-day pink-ball trial game whilst England travel to Sydney to play a Cricket Australia XI in Blacktown.
