The Australia v India test series is set for a fitting finale. Locked at 1-1, the fourth Test is set up to be a winner takes all affair.

The Aussies surprised the cricket world by taking a convincing victory in the first test in Pune, India then answered straight back, levelling the series in Bengaluru. In the most recent battle between the two, the visitors salvaged a draw after a massive first innings score from the hosts.

Again the pre-Test match talk has been about the pitch. The word is that the wicket in Dharamsala will be completely different to what has been played on to date in India.

Grass is expected to be on the pitch, which is said to have bounce and to suit the pace bowlers. Ex-test quick Mitchell Johnson was quizzed on the pitch and what it means to the series by Fox Sports.

“Dharamsala is an amazing ground and the only times I have seen it are with grass on (the pitch). So, I think that’s why the Australians will probably be confident and India will be a little bit nervous. I think they’ve been overconfident in this series and I think the scoreline shows that.” he said.

This has bought about more selection troubles for Australia, with talk of a third seamer being brought into the XI. If that does happen, questions will then be raised about who will miss out; Steve O'Keefe, or Nathan Lyon.

India have already made a move, with fast bowler Mohammed Shami being introduced into the squad. There is still no confirmation that he will play in the Test, however, it is a clear sign as to what India are expecting out of the pitch.

The pressure will again be on Virat Kohli to perform. Under both a form and injury cloud, the captain of India will went to step up and help his side win the trophy. Through 5 innings in this series, Kohli average 9.2 with the bat. This puts him below Steve O'Keefe, Mitch Starc, and Ravi Jadeja.

India can only win the Border-Gavaskar trophy if they win the fourth test. Whereas Australia are the current holders, thus a win, or a draw, will mean they will retain it.

The fourth, and final Test begins at 3pm Saturday AEDT.
