Melbourne Renegades opener Aaron Finch remains sidelined with a knee injury and will miss his side's clash with the Brisbane Heat on Monday night.

David Saker's 15-man squad to face the Heat was released on Sunday, with Finch a notable absentee.

The 35-year-old is yet to feature for the Renegades throughout the BBL|11 season as he looks to nurse his hindered leg, which required surgery prior to Australia's T20 World Cup campaign.

After leading his nation to victory in the tournament, the veteran batsman has since been kept on ice and remains out of the action for the Renegades.

The Renegades will welcome the return of newly-appointed captain Nic Maddinson, who will join his teammates after leading Australia A to victory last week.

Maddinson was handed the reins from Finch in the build-up to the BBL season, with fast bowler Kane Richardson having led the charge in Maddinson's place.

The Renegades will be looking to return to a positive record in their clash with Brisbane on the Gold Coast, having managed one win and one loss to the Strikers across their opening two fixtures.

The Heat - who are yet to confirm their squad - are likely to welcome back some key figures for the match, with Mark Steketee, Michael Neser and Mitchell Swepson also returning from Australia A's win over the Three Lions.

Englishman Tom Abell featured in the loss to 112-run loss to Australia A and will be a chance to join the Heat.
