The first Test between Bangladesh and South Africa has ended in a draw after rain washed out the final two days of play in Chittagong.

After dismissing South Africa for just 248 on day one, Bangladesh replied with a first innings score of 326.

Tamim Iqbal (57), Mahmudallah (67) and Liton Das (50) all scored half centuries to help give the home side a 78 run lead heading into the second innings.

The Proteas then responded well, reaching 61 without loss in their second innings to bridge the gap to just 17 runs at the close of play on day three.

However, South Africa could not add to their score on day four or five, with heavy rain washing out the final two days of the match.
