Gillespie appointed coach of English County side Sussex

Former Australian quick Jason Gillespie has signed a three-year deal to coach English County side, Sussex.

Gillespie coached Yorkshire to back-to-back County Championships in 2014 and 2015, before returning home to Australia, where he has coached the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash in the Australian summer.

"I am thrilled to be given the opportunity of taking the reins at such a proud and traditional club like Sussex,” Gillespie said.

"I know that there is some excitement around the capabilities of the current playing group.

"I look forward to getting over there and playing my role in helping Sussex achieve its on and off-field goals for 2018 and beyond."

Gillespie, who took 259 wickets in 71 test matches for Australia, is expected to also continue his role with the Strikers.

He replaces 42-year-old replaces Mark Davis as coach of Sussex.
