The ICC (International Cricket Council) has decided not to take action against any player from the second test between India and Australia.

This is despite a war of words breaking out between both nation's governing bodies regarding their opponent's actions on the field. The two captains will be forced to meet with match referee Richie Richardson before the third Test, in an attempt to ease tensions and improve on field conduct.

Steve Smith came under scrutiny after he appeared to look to the dressing room for advice on whether to challenge an umpire's decision using the DRS system, which was a clear breach of rules. The following is an excerpt from the ICC's "Standard Test Match Playing Conditions".

"If the umpires believe that the captain or batsman has received direct or indirect input emanating other than from the players on the field, then they may at their discretion decline the request for a Player Review. In particular, signals from the dressing room must not be given."

Virat Kohli took the incident a step further by claiming that the Australians had done this multiple times throughout the match. He also hinted to the fact that he believed Smith was blatantly cheating. The Australian captain acknowledged his mistake, putting it down to a simple, "brain fade".

Kohli can also consider himself lucky to escape any sanction after he appeared to breach the code of conduct on multiple occasions throughout the game. Article 2.1(2).3 of the ICC'S 'Code of Conduct' refers to public criticism, or inappropriate comment in relation to anything that occurred in the Test match.

Meanwhile, other potential breaches from Kohli, and most players from both sides include; performing actions that would aggravate a batsmen after they are dismissed, showing dissent towards the umpires and their decisions, and more.

This decision by the ICC means that all players are eligible to play in the third Test match, with tensions likely to be at a high once again.
