Marcus Harris has capped an incredible start to his summer by signing on with the Melbourne Renegades for the upcoming BBL season.

Harris, who has put himself back in the Test frame after a century against Western Australia in the Sheffield Shield, as well as 142 not out against Tasmania this week in the one-day cup, to go with a score of 85 against South Australia in the Shield to start his season, has played 48 games for the Renegades over the previous six seasons.

He hasn't played in the past two seasons due to international commitments, but with David Warner and Usman Khawaja locked in at the top of the order for the Test team, he will likely have full availability for the Renegades during the summer before fighting for a spot in the squad to tour India during February and March.

Harris has averaged 21 with the bat in his 48 T20 games, making four half-centuries.

He said he was excited to be back in the Renegades squad for this summer.

“It's great to be locked in with the Renegades again this season,” Harris said in a club statement.

“While I haven't been able to play BBL over the last couple of seasons, I've followed the team closely and I really want to be part of a successful season with this group.

I'm looking forward to playing in front of our Renegades fans again and trying to win our second BBL championship.”

Renegades general manager James Rosengarten said he would add plenty of strength to the batting group.

“Marcus is a quality player and we're pleased to have him recommit to our club for BBL|12,” Rosengarten said.

“He adds to the strength of our batting group, which boasts a core group of experienced players and some exciting young talent on the rise. We look forward to having him back in red this summer, around any international duties.”

The Renegades are captained by Nic Maddinson, while Harris will likely join Aaron Finch at the top of the order, with the Australian T20 captain likely to be available for the entire season. Shaun Marsh is another option to open, although will likely bat at number three.
