India has taken an unassailable 3-0 series lead over Australia, after a five-wicket win in the third ODI in Indore.

Under fire wicketkeeper Matthew Wade was given the boot from the side, replaced by Peter Handscombe at No.7, while opener Aaroon Finch returned from a calf injury, replacing Hilton Cartwright.

Australia won the toss and elected to bat, scoring 6-293, thanks largely to Finch's 124, before India reached the target with five wickets in hand and two overs to spare.

After missing the first two matches through injury, Finch returned in style, hitting a brilliant century, as he, David Warner (42) and Steve Smith (63) batted Australia into a strong position over the first two-thirds of the innings. At 1-220 in the 38th over, it looked as though the tourists could be on track for 350.

However, when Smith and Finch fell, it was again the middle order, who in this case was in search of more quick runs, failed to deliver. The Aussies lost 5-51 during a 10 over period, as Marcus Stoinis hit an unbeaten 27, while Glenn Maxwell (5), Travis Head (4) and Peter Handscomb (3) all struggled.

Australia's total of 293 looked to be under par and India proved it certainly was, reaching the target with relative ease.

Ajinkya Rahane (70 off 76 balls), Rohit Sharma (71 off 62 balls) and Hardik Pandya (78 off 72 balls) all took a liking to the tourists' bowling attack, effectively putting the game to bed early in the piece.

Pat Cummins claimed two wickets, while Coulter-Nile, Richardson and Agar grabbed one each.

Australia has now lost its past six ODIs and last away 11 from home.

Meanwhile, India has equalled the record for their best ODI winning streak of 11 and claimed the No.1 ODI ranking.

The fourth ODI is in Bengaluru on Thursday.
