The Indian cricket team have reportedly been left disappointed by the choice of meals after an optional training session at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Tuesday.

The team flew in from Melbourne on Monday after their thrilling opening victory over Pakistan at the T20 World Cup in a match which saw Virat Kohli play what may have been the best innings of his career.

The run chase of 160 - where India looked out of the match on numerous occasions - has left them in pole position to claim top spot in Group 2, that case made stronger given South Africa's no result in Hobart on Monday evening against Zimbabwe to kickstart their tournament.

India are now preparing for a clash against the Netherlands this evening, however, a source told Fox Sports on the condition of anonymity from inside the Indian camp that only cold sandwiches were served after a three-hour training camp.

The source said that all teams are being treated to the same food, and that some Indian players opted to order food for delivery to the venue instead of take the fare that was on offer.

“The team told the ground authorities about the meal we got,” the source said on condition of anonymity.

“Will you be happy if you are served a sandwich after three hours of workout?

“I know all the teams are getting the same thing but they are not speaking out because most of them are not in a position to raise a voice.

“We did not train today and hope we get something better in our next net session, and if not, then the players will order online like we did on Tuesday.”

The ICC are working with local organisers on catering for all training sessions and games.
