Australia has succumbed to yet another comprehensive defeat to India, going down by seven wickets in the final match of the five-game series overnight.

The Aussies won the toss and elected to bat, putting together a miserly total of 9-242, before India chased down the target with seven wickets in hand and seven overs to spare.

Aaron Finch and David Warner once again got Australia off to a positive start with a 66-run stand, before Finch fell for 32.

Captain Steve Smith then came and went quickly for 16, while Warner continued on his way, reaching another half-century before being dismissed for 53.

But once again Australia failed to go on with the positive start in the middle order. Travis Head (42) and Marcus Stoinis (46) both made starts, while Matthew Wade (20), Peter Handscomb (13) and James Faulkner (12) all failed to fire.

India was clinical in reply with the bat, with Rohit Sharma blasting 125 runs from just 109 balls. His innings included 11 fours and five sixes. Sharma was aided with important knocks from Ajinkta Rahane, whit hit 61 at the top of the order and Virat Kohli, who hit a quickfire 39.

The first match of the three-game T20 international series is on Saturday in Ranchi.
