India have been dealt a cruel blow ahead of Friday’s series decider in Brisbane, with star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of the Gabba Test with an abdominal strain, per The Times Of India.

Scans have revealed that Bumrah sustained the strain during the third test at the SCG, with Indian management not looking to risk their pace bowler before the nation’s series against England.

Bumrah’s absence is another blow to the already injury-riddled Indian squad, who valiantly grinded through to the expiration of the fifth day of the Sydney Test to record a drawn match and set up an enticing finale at the Gabba.

A BCCI source close to the PTI revealed the extent of Bumrah’s latest setback, stating the 27-year-old will miss the Brisbane Test.

“Jasprit Bumrah suffered an abdominal strain while fielding in Sydney. He is going to sit out of the Brisbane Test but is expected to be available against England,” the source said.

Bumrah will join fellow Indian bowlers Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar on the sidelines.

Ravi Jadeja has also been ruled out of the fourth test, while Hanuma Vihari is unlikely to play after injuring his hamstring.
