There are fresh concerns out of the Indian camp with captain Rohit Sharma copping a blow to his right hand at training, with trainers and medical staff rushing to the aid of the opening batsman on Tuesday afternoon.

Reporter Bharat Sundaresan captured the footage that shows Sharma visibly upset and troubled by the untimely incident after being struck, with physios first on the scene to gauge the severity of the injury.

Judging by his body language, the 35-year-old was in obvious pain and appeared troubled by the incident, eventually opting to walk out of the nets and not facing another ball.

After Virat Kohli handed the captaincy reins to Sharma last November, the job of leading his country in the shortest format, Kohli just might resume his role as captain if a worst-case scenario prevails for his predecessor.

KL Rahul currently sits in the vice-captaincy position and is poised to take control if need be, but an update from Sundaresan reports Sharma is looking in greater shape, with Indian fans able to breathe a sigh of relief for the time being.

With India set to face England in Thursday night's semi-final clash with the winner advancing to the final of the T20 World Cup, it remains to be seen whether the men in blue may be in search of a replacement.

The two nations will announce their XIs for the semi-final closer to Thursday night's toss.
