Former Test bowler Mitchell Johnson has silenced talk surrounding a possible comeback to international cricket after Nathan Lyon said he could make a return for Australia again.
Johnson retired from international cricket in November 2015 after an illustrious career spanning over 250 games for Australia in all formats, and it's a decision he doesn't regret at all.
Lyon - a friend and former teammate of the left arm paceman - suggested that Johnson could come out of retirement for the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka, as Australia need to play a second string side given their Test side will be preparing for a series in India.
"Look, I don't think so. I don't think that will ever happen," Johnson said on cricket.com.au's The Unplayable Podcast about coming out of retirement.
"The ears prick up a little bit. But I'm happy playing this sort of format (domestically). It's a lot more relaxed.
"I feel like there's a bit more of that fun playing the Big Bash.
"When you go to that next level, there's definitely something different. You really have to step up.
"I'm probably not up to that standard. There's other guys there that are playing much better - AJ Tye for instance. He's playing much-better cricket than I am."
Johnson has made a strong start to his first BBL season, and has taken seven wickets from his five matches to help his team jump into top spot.
