Victorian and Melbourne Stars player and former Australian ODI and Twenty20 representative David Hussey has announced his retired from professional cricket.
Hussey confirmed his retirement on SEN Radio on Wednesday afternoon.
“I’m done. I spoke to the boys quietly last night,” Hussey said.
“It’s amazing what you want to do, but you can’t actually do it anymore…I’m still pretty emotional about it.
“I’m sort of stopping a progressing of a young player coming through the ranks and achieving their dreams of playing at the highest possible level.
“It’s time to move on, but very thankful for what I’ve achieved in the game.”
Hussey had a prolific domestic career, scoring 14,280 first-class runs at an average of 52.50 in 192 matches, hitting 45 hundreds and 65 half-centuries.
