Bowlers John Hastings and Jon Holland are set to miss the entire Big Bash League season after both players picked up injuries in Victoria's Sheffield Shield draw with Tasmania last week.

The Melbourne Stars are "fearing the worst" with Hastings, after the towering paceman picked up a knee injury that is set to sideline him for most of the summer.

"We won't see much of [Hastings], if at all. If news is better than that great, but we fear for the worst. We're looking at probably not having him for the Big Bash," Stars coach Stephen Fleming told Fairfax Media.

"We'll just wait for confirmation of that, and fingers crossed it's not the case. I think it was patella tendon. It didn't look good and it hasn't been good for the last few days."

Adelaide Strikers are sweating on Holland but are likely to be without him for the entire tournament after re-aggravating an ankle injury.

The good news for Holland however is his injury looks certain to heal before Australia's tour of India in February, as Holland is one of the men leading the charge to compliment Nathan Lyon on the sub-continent.
