Indian captain Virat Kohli has escaped serious injury after hurting his shoulder in the field yesterday.

Kohli injured his shoulder while trying to save a boundary in the field on day one and left the ground midway through the day and did not return.

The 28-year-old seen icing his shoulder in the change rooms in the afternoon session.

The BCCI confirmed overnight he will return to the field this Test.

"The BCCI Medical Team confirms that Indian Captain Mr. Virat Kohli is presently undergoing treatment to recuperate from a strain in his right shoulder," India said.

"Relevant investigations have revealed that there are no serious concerns, which will hamper his speedy recovery from a strain in his right shoulder due to a fall while fielding on day one of the third Paytm Test against Australia in Ranchi.
