Kevin Pietersen will miss the Stars' clash with the Sydney Sixers to fly home to England to be with his wife for the birth of his second child.
Pietersen will play in the Stars' first two matches against Adelaide and the Sydney Thunder before flying home to be with his wife for Christmas.
He is expected to be back in Melbourne for the derby against the Melbourne Renegades on January 2.
