Australian big hitter, Chris Lynn, will miss the start of the Australian summer of cricket after opting to undergo surgery to repair his troublesome shoulder.

Lynn has been battling shoulder issues for the past three seasons, but has grown frustrated of managing the problem and will have surgery on Monday, according to The Courier Mail.

It will see him ruled out until the start of the Big Bash in December, meaning he will forgo lucrative Twenty20 contracts in the Bangladesh and West Indian Premier Leagues.

“I have been battling through each tournament and umming and arr-ing at training but the time has come to get it done,’’ Lynn said.

“I was getting sorer and sorer after training. I am pretty confident I will be back for the Big Bash.

“I was supposed to play in the Caribbean Premier League on Wednesday so I have had to give them the bad news.

“I will cost myself a bit but physically and mentally it will mean a lot to get it done.

“They are pretty confident they can get it right but there is obviously no certainty. If you hurt something once you are never going to be 100 per cent but I would like to be somewhere near 100 per cent."

Despite the injury, Lynn has amassed over 1,500 Big Bash runs at an average of 41. He also has the most half-centuries in Big Bash history, best striker rate and the most career sixes.
