Australian batsman Marcus Harris is set to fly to the sub-continent as part of Australia's squad for their tour of Pakistan.
Harris, who was dropped for the fifth and final Test of the Ashes series, will be looking to re-stake his claim as an opener for the national side.
Replaced by Usman Khawaja as an opener for the Hobart Test, Harris' career in the Australian system looked set to end after amassing an average of just 25.29 from his 14 Tests in the baggy green.
However, the Perth-born batter looks set for a reprieve, with selectors understood to have the 29-year-old in their plans for the Pakistan series, according to News Corp.
Australia are yet to confirm their squad for the series, however the starting XI looks cemented following the 4-0 victory over England.
Paceman Jhye Richardson has been confirmed to miss the series, with Ashes hero Scott Boland set to join star quartet Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon and Mitchell Starc as depth in the bowling attack.
Travis Head and Cameron Green have solidified their place in the middle, with Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne retaining their roles.
Incumbent opener David Warner is set to hold onto his partnership with Khawaja at the top of the order, however should either face a form slip, Harris firms as the reinforcement.
The veteran pair are well into the twilight of their careers, with Australian selectors needing to plan the foundations for their succession.
Harris doesn't have a plethora of time on his hands either, however the lack of immediate options keeps the Victoria opener in the frame.
South Australian Henry Hunt and Queenslander Bryce Street firm as options for the long haul, while former Australian representatives Will Pucovski and Matt Renshaw will also be in consideration.
The other position that could face a selection change in Pakistan is the wicketkeeping position, with Alex Carey's place in the side facing questions despite an impressive debut.
A lack of runs with the bat and several errors behind the stumps placed Carey's selection as no certainty, with Western Australian Josh Inglis the next in line and set to feature in the Pakistan squad.
The first Test of Australia' tour of Pakistan is scheduled to begin on March 4, before two more Tests, three ODIs and a one-off T20.
