Marcus Stoinis has done the job with both bat and ball overnight for his IPL franchise Delhi Capitals.

Stoinis led the Capitals to a super over victory over Kings XI Punjab in a superb showing of twenty20 cricket.

Stoinis smashed 53 off just 21 balls leading the Capitals to 8-157 off their 20 overs.

The Australian all-rounder then did the job with the ball at the death, Stoinis took consecutive wickets off the final two balls to send the game to a dramatic super over.

South African quick Kagiso Rabada clean bowled Punjab batsmen KL Rahul and Nicholas Pooran in back-to-back balls leaving Australian Glenn Maxwell stranded at the other end without facing a ball to leave the Capitals needing just three runs to win.

Delhi took just two legal deliveries to complete the win.

Stoinis dominated the Big Bash as an opener last summer but was deployed at No.6 by Delhi coach Ricky Ponting.

The powerful right-hander helped the Capital's forge a competitive target after the side slumped to 6-96 in the 17th over, exploding in a breathtaking late cameo as he helped them chase 57 off the final 18 balls of the innings.

He was run out on a no-ball on the second last ball of the innings as England quick Jordan conceded a massive 30 runs off the final over.
