The team for the first Test against India has been announced with Mitchell Marsh missing out on a place in the side.

Peter Handscomb will come in for his first game since the fourth Test against South Africa in March.

Travis Head retains his place after showing some form in the Sheffield Shield, while Aaron Finch keeps his spot at the top of the order after a solid series against Pakistan.

Usman Khawaja, Australia’s standout in the UAE, will move to number three with Marcus Harris coming in for his test debut.

Harris has been outstanding in the Shield posting several scores beyond fifty, including 250* against New South Wales.

His debut comes at a time where Australia are looking for someone to nail down a place at the top.

While the batting positions are constantly changing, the bowling line-up remains the same.

Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon will once again play together and look to take the pressure off the inexperienced batsmen.

The first Test gets underway in Adelaide on Thursday December 6.
